The purpose of this survey is to gain understanding of district-level FET curriculum prescribed drama literature titles, for the development of innovative national education intervention solutions. By asking you to answer questions, that will help us identifying:
- Which drama literature texts are prescribed
- Which prescribed texts are actively being taught
- Where they are taught (school/s, district, and province)
What we mean by “Drama Literature”
In the context of this survey, drama literature refers specifically to plays/dramatic texts officially prescribed by the Department of Basic Education (DBE) for Grades 10–12, and studied, taught, and assessed primarily as part of Language subjects — such as English, Afrikaans, isiZulu, and other Home Language (HL), First or Second Additional Languages (FAL or SAL) subjects. Examples include Macbeth, Sophiatown, My Children! My Africa!, Itsoseng, and other prescribed plays.
